#ThankATrucker, #TreatATrucker, and other hashtags directed to our resilient truck drivers have since flooded social media platforms during the coronavirus outbreak - and for good reason!
Imagine the panic buying bonanza caused by this pandemic - that would mean deliveries, transfers, and restocking here and there. Not to mention the increase in online orders for food, groceries, and other consumer goods. Truckers brave the now ghostly highways across the country, making the long drives back and forth to give us what we need, when we need them.
With the increase in transport volume, America’s truck drivers must be feeling beat up - that’s why Americans’ online support is massive and contagious. From free meals, sponsorships, and even prayers, we just can’t contain the gratitude we owe these men and women. Here are more ideas to keep the goodwill going:
1. Surprise on delivery. Expecting a package soon? Prepare a little something for the trucker. A simple snack, refreshments, or a few dollars extra will fire them up for another hundred of deliveries down the road. How about a mini care package for their families back home, too? And don’t forget to express your thanks in words!
2. Make them more viral. Snap a shot of those friendly truckers when they get to your place or when you come across them. Post them on your social feeds and start an online chain of gratitude. Ask them first for consent to publish, of course.
3. Get them a gift card. Their daily heroics make them deserving to bear a symbol of our freedom. Because not all heroes wear capes, buy them gift cards for our patriotic jerseys! Get these essential workers covered with this proud nation’s love and appreciation for them, especially this season!
Even when we see the end of this global tragedy already, let’s not forget how important our truck drivers are to the country’s economy. Any ideas on how to help out our truckers get through these trying times? Drop your thoughts on the comments section!
